The Empty Deception Politics Of Vice Presidential Promise
Hon Irene Naa Torshie Addo, former MP for Tema West, former Dep Chief Whip and now District Assemblies Common Fund Administrator, is the most recent senior public official to have been assured of the Vice Presidential Nomination by DMB.
Just like many others before her, including the Chief of Staff, 1st Deputy Speaker, Minister for Communications, Majority Leader, Ministers for Education and Energy and the Greater Accra Regional Minister, this empty expectation is motivating her to go around using her office resources to force delegates to support the outgoing Vice President.
Reports from delegates she has met in the company of Deputy Minister of Local Government Collins Ntim and the Secretary to the National Cathedral Trustees, Rev Kusi Boateng say they are promising everything under the sun that they never gave in the past eight years.
Other selfish officials promised big positions to use their offices and resources to entice delegates with big promises include Sammy Awuku of NLA, Annor Dompreh, kwadwo Oppong Nkrumah and Hon Hawa Koomson of the Fisheries ministry as Chief of Staff.
Other reports say the so called MP supporters who were hiding behind DMB to protect their seats are now wiser as DMB boys and girls have started moving to contest incumbents in Eastern, Greater Accra, Western, Central and the Middle belt.
The whole empty deception of using promises of future big offices to force government appointees to campaign for DMB is falling apart. Delegates are rejecting the by force promises and the appointees themselves are seeing the deception as many people are promised the same position by the same person.
As the elders say “when the there is not there, you cannot force it to be there”.
