9,269 Children Infected With HIV In 2022-AIDS Commission
Statistics available at the Ghana AIDS Commission (GAC) have it that 9,269 children between 19 years infected with HIV in 2022
AIDS also claimed the lives of 3,564 youngsters in the same year.
Out of those who died of AIDS, 2,180 of them were between 0 and 14; 645 were between 19 and 19 (adolescents) while 739 of rye number fell between 15 and 24 (young people)
The figure for the infected children is part of 16,574 people who were infected in 2022, bringing the total number of persons living with HIV in the country to 354,927.
Out of the new infections, children below 14 years comprised 2,868, while 10 to 19 (adolescents) and 15 to 24 (young people) comprised 1,791 and 4,610 respectively.
The data is contained in a recent national HIV report- “2022 National and sub-national HIV estimates and projections report” which was disseminated in Accra by the Ghana AIDS Commission (GAC) and partners.
