Cetag In Battle With Education Minister Over Freezing of Salaries
The Colleges of Education Teachers of Ghana are in battle with Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Adutwum demanding further explanation to his recent directives to the Controlar and Acountant General Department to frees their salary without engaging cetag of which they describe the decision as misplaced of trust regarding their initial engagement which has compelled them to call off the strike.
In a letter responding to the Education Minister, Cetag agitated that the Commission asked the government to submit detailed documentation indicating compliance with the Arbitral Award orders to the commission for oward transmission to them.
The union also promised to consult with its structures to consider the appeal to resume work and wait for the commission to bring finality to the matter.
Cetag have since been waiting for the Ministry response and they are now surprised to see the Minister’s taken a decision directing the commission NOT to pay monthly salary and allowances of August 2023 to members of Cetag.
The Minister’s directives did not go down well with Cetag because they were made to understand based on the commission’s directive to call off the strike to enable the government bring finality to the matter. But actions of the Minister have undermined cetag members to have taken such an entrenched position of which both parties did not conclude on the matter.
