The Chief Executive Officer of the Minierals Commission, Hon. Martin Kwaku Ayisi in an interview with journalist yesterday confirmed that, the Anto-Aboso quarry which explosion killed five persons operate Illegally.
Speaking to the media after a team of inspectors from the Minerals Commission’s and other state institutions visited the explosion site explain that, the Chinese nationalist who operate the quarry do not have EPA permit, no mining permit to operate.
However, he assures Ghanaians that the intended investigations will authenticate the manner in which the Chinese got the explosive materials from, and how they were imported
Hon. Martin Kwaku Ayisi instigated that before one can operate using such explosive materials must pass through the necessary permit guidelines.
“What we must be interested now is to find out is who give them the permit and where they got the licensing and how the explosive materials were imported at the quarry site”.
Before one can use explosive material for mining, you need to acquire a permit through the inspectors at the Minerals Commission permitting such company or institution to operate.
The explosion which occurred on 10th September 2023 leading to death of five persons while others missing, has raised concerns of how the incident occurred…but the Minerals Commission’s CEO assures the public and residents at the Shama District in the Western Region that, the commission is leaving no stone unturned to unravel the cause of the explosion and how explosive materials were being transported into the quarry site.
