Peace Is Imperative Let’s Advocate For Dev’t: Sefwi Wiawsomanhene Urged Ghanaians
The Paramount chief of Sefwi Wiawso, Katakyire Kwasi Bumangamah II, has urged Ghanaians to advocate for peace since its imperative to catalyst for accelerating development in the Western North Region.
Nana Katakyie Kwasi Bumangamah II made this during the celebration of the International Peace Day by the Western North Regional Peace Council at Wiawso College of Education.
“Peace, according to him, is the cornerstone upon which progress and prosperity are built”.
International Peace Day is organised to educate people about the importance of peaceful coexistence and conflict prevention. The day was founded with a strong aim to create a non-violent and harmonious world. It is being celebrated on the 21st of September annually.
In his address, he stressed that without peace, the potential for growth and advancement in the region remains at risk.
His Royal Highness underscored that the traditional leaders are putting up their best efforts to ensure the preservation of peace.
Katakyie Kwasi Bumangamah II used the opportunity to appeal to the residents of the Western North Region,to embrace a culture of peace and harmony in their to quest to promote peace at all times.
Most Rev. Samuel Nkuah-Boateng, Chairman for the Western North Regional Peace Council, speaking during the International Peace Day celebration, reaffirming the council’s readiness to uphold and safeguard peaceful coexistence in the region.
He disclosed that, the council has implemented a range of measures to fast-track its endeavours aimed at strengthening peace and fostering unity within the region.
Additionally, DCOP Martin Ayiih, the Western North Regional Police Commander also call on the public to actively participate in ensuring peace and stability within the region.
The event witnessed the participation of various stakeholders; including members of the Western North Regional Peace Council, traditional leaders, clergy, security personnel, politicians, students, and members of the general public.
