Ahafo Goaso: Sanitation Ministry Entreats MMDAs To Intensify Measures To Address Poor Sanitation
The Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Dr. Freda Akosua Prempeh has entreated Municipal and District Assemblies (MDAs) in Ahafo Region to intensify measures to address poor sanitation which remains problematic.
She made the call during the opening ceremony of a 3 – day training workshop on water and sanitation organised by the Sanitation and Water Resources Ministry at Goaso for Municipal and District Assemblies in Ahafo Region, and explained that gradually the region is having poor sanitation because managers of Municipal and District Assemblies have refused to initiate active measures to avert the situation.
According to the Minister who doubles as the MP for Tano North, it’s time the assemblies deal with individuals and companies they have agreement with in terms of handling filth and refuse to do what is expected.
She further said, her ministry remains committed to support assemblies to improve water and sanitation for residents but not withstanding the assemblies must also improve their efforts especially fighting filth in order not over burden the ministry.
