120 Excavators And 2 Bulldozers Seized From Galamseyers – Brig. Gen. Agyeman Prempeh Hints.
The General Officer Commanding the Central Command Headquarters, Brigadier General Charles Agyeman Prempeh has disclosed that his hardworking men within the Central Command tasked to embark upon illegal mining ( Galamsey) operations have chalked successes by seizing 120 Excavators and 2 Bulldozers from illegal mining sites and are parked at the 4th Battalion at the Central Command.
According to the General Officer Commanding the Central Command, the seized excavators and the bulldozers were used for illegal mining (Galamsey ) activities which were destroying the nation’s forest reserves, the environment and the pollution of river and water bodies that God has blessed Ghana for.
Delivering his speech at the Headquarters of the Central Command, in Kumasi on Friday 23rd December,2023 on the observation of West Africa Security Services Association (WASSA) and the 2023 end of year get together ceremony, Brigadier General Charles Agyeman Prempeh, further hinted that his command will continue to fight against Galamsey activities and will not relent to its effort. He commended the task force team from the Central Command for their commitment to the fight and encouraged them to continue with their patriotic spirit.
Touching on some of the infrastructural projects that the Central Command initiated, Brigadier General Agyeman Prempeh disclosed that a 20-unit bedroom and hall with a kitchen, toilet and bath which work is in progress and has reached the roofing stage, is funded by the Central Command.
The General Officer Commanding for the Central Command appeals to individuals to support the completion of the project to serve its intended purposes.
The Central Command noted that he started a dialogue mission with Asanko Gold Mining and Newmont Ghana to construct a 30-unit bedroom and a hall as well as 10 units, 2 bedroom accommodation for personnel of the 4th Infantry Battalion respectively which according to the GOC, he believes the hearts of the invited 2 companies will be touched for the support.
Brigadier General Agyeman Prempeh further hinted that in May 2023 when he assumed office as the General Officer Commanding the Central Command, he focused on competence-based training, redevelopment of the Headquarters command and welfare of the soldiers of command which is chalking successes.
He again disclosed that the central command has formed a committee which has contacted the management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, KNUST, for architectural designs for a multi-purpose and operational conference hall and for the renovation of the 4th Garrison to be operationalised in 2024 when funding made available.
Brigadier General Charles Agyeman Prempeh called for a collective resolve to do appraisals and march into 2024 with a determination to make central command great.
He also commended Nana elder Akwasi Appiah (chief of Anookese ) who through his resources constructed the western gate for the command and a very beautiful edifice.
Earlier, the main entrance gate which has a new look was commissioned by Brigadier General Charles Agyeman Prempeh assisted by Nana elder Akwasi Appiah, ( chief of Anoo Kese including other senior officers of the central command.
The event also witnessed weightlifting competitions amongst the military personnel, eating competitions as well as drama staged by wives of the personnel of the central command.
Awards and plaques of citations were also given to hardworking and dedicated military personnel as well as civilian employees within the military service of the central command who excelled so much in the year 2023.
