Asante Akyem Central MP Wins Parliamentary Primaries For Fifth Time
The member of parliament for the Asante Akyem central in the Ashanti region, Hon Lawyer Kwame Anyimadu Antwi on Saturday 27th January 2024 won the NPP parliamentary primaries that took place in Konongo the municipal capital.
Hon Anyimadu Antwi, the chairman of the Legal and Constitutional Affairs in Parliament won with a total vote of 374 to beat Mr Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, the Chief e Officer for the National Entrepreneurship and Innovative Programme ( NEIP) obtained 213 votes and Nana Amponsah Agyeman got 4 votes, but 1 vote was not recorded.
Though tensions were very high during the primaries over the weekend, the Ashanti South Regional Police Command with its able and effective personnel were able to exhibit professionalism to maintain law and order for a very successful election.
In his victory speech, Hon Kwame Anyimadu Antwi congratulated the other 2 aspirants that he defeated and wished them the very best next time.
He said that, though the Asante Akyem central NPP parliamentary primaries were a very competitive contest but the grace of the Almighty God, he has been able to sail his way through a total victory for NPP in Asante Akyem central.
Hon Kwame Anyimadu Antwi commended the municipal chief executive for the Asante Akyem Central, Hon Robert Yaw Kwakye who according to Hon Anyimadu Antwi did not desert him and played a very pivotal role in his victory.
The Asante Akyem central constituency MP further expressed his gratitude to the constituency executives and said that even though some of them did not support him in the primaries he believes it was an effort to strengthen his campaign and win the contest.
The chairman of the Legal and Constitutional Affairs in Parliament further disclosed that he has already had a competition in his 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th which he won all.
He hinted further that, the NPP in the Asante Akyem central constituency loves him and he also does the same and promised that the upcoming 2024 general elections are going to be a walk-over on the NDC hence pledging to secure a total victory for Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to Break the 8 to retain power.
Hon Kwame Anyimadu Antwi did not mince words by saying that before the parliamentary primaries, the Asante Akyem central NPP was portrayed as a war zone on social media but he is grateful to God for the successful elections which he commended the Municipal Electoral Commission officer and her team and the Ghana Police Service for exhibiting professionalism in their discharge of their duties.
