Calls For NAPO Removal Is Borne Out Of Ignorance-NAPO’s Spokesperson
A spokesperson for the Minister of Energy, Kofi Abrefa Adena, has described Bed the call by the Executive Director of the Institute of Energy Security (IES), Nana Amoasi, for Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh to be removed, as one that is borne out of ignorance.
According to him, it is not true that the sector Minister is out of touch with the realities.
“Dr. Prempeh is not the type to talk too much but believes in results. Nana Amoasi has no idea the sleepless nights of the Minister, aimed at addressing the current power challenge”, Kofi Abrefa said in a statement issued and sighted by Matcommedia.com.
The Minister’s spokesperson contended that the current challenges are being resolved and that results will soon become visible for all to see.
“The matter needs swift intervention but I struggle to appreciate the logic in Amoasi’s position of removing the Minister. When Kwabena Dinkor resigned over the pervasive dumsor under John Mahama, did it necenecessarilsolve the matter? Amoasi should get serious work with the technical people to find amicable solutions” he added.
The spokesperson reiterated the Minister’s quest for forbearance from the Ghanaian people as stakeholders continue to work assiduously to resolve the temporary challenges.
In the past few months, there have been widespread criticisms of the government, with citizens and businesses expressing fury over how their lights go off for more than 12 hours a day.
A significant size of the Public has also questioned whether ‘dumsor’ is back and has asked the government to provide a timetable to enable them to plan their activities properly.
But the government has said what is being experienced in the country is not ‘dumsor’ but rather equipment issues which are being addressed.
On the back of this, the PURC asked the ECG to produce a load-shedding schedule by April 2, 2024, a request that was flouted without explanation.
