*Defamation of Character*
I have intercepted a video purportedly being shared by the NDC parliamentary candidate for Sefwi Wiawso, Mr Kofi Benteh Afful.
He has distributed that video across selected media houses, trying hard but in vain to entice them to use the video to defame Hon Festus Bumakama Agyapong. In the said video being distributed by Mr Benteh, a man is heard wrongfully accusing Hon Festus Bumakama Agyapong of hiring thugs to attack him. That man in the video has since been identified as Nana Boakye from Boako.
I need to emphatically state that, Hon Festus Bumakama Agyapong has never and will never commission an attack on any individual. He is a man of justice and will only resort to the course of law in addressing matters of dispute if need be. It is therefore strange to see his opponents try so hard to tarnish his hard-earned reputation with such baseless lies.
Hon Festus sees this act as a deliberate act of character defamation for ill political gains. Supporters of Hon Festus are assured that this act will not be left to slide. The necessary legal actions will be taken in due course against anyone associated with this act of deliberate defamation.
It is important to reiterate the fact that, the NDC parliamentary candidate, ever since he realized for himself that defeat was inevitable, has together with his people resorted to vile propaganda against Hon Festus. Shockingly, he even extends this unhealthy behavior to the family of Hon Festus.
There are countless instances where he has made unsavory comments about the father of Hon Festus’ father, Katakyie Kwasi Bumangama II during his campaign. As a son of the late chief of Nsenseemu, Mr Benteh was expected to know better when it comes to dealing with our elders. He has however persistently made our paramountcy a subject of attack in his campaign.
Undoubtedly, he has realized that the political ocean is drowning him and is therefore clinching to the least straw he can lay his hands on. He must however note that this particular attempt with his people to defame and assassinate the character of Hon Festus Bumakama Agyapong will be met with the appropriate legal actions.
Signed
Opoku Ware Stephen
Spokesperson for Buma
