Asamankese: 24-Year-Old Man Jailed 14 Years For Stealing Mobile Phone
The Asamankese Circuit Court Presided Over by His Honour Abass Abubakari Adams has convicted a 24 year old man from Nyanoa to 14 Years Imprisonment in hard labour for stealing mobile phone worth Gh¢900.00 from a student of Nyanoa Community Day Senior High School.
After full trial, the accused, Ansah Philip pleaded guilty for stealing, contrary to section 124(1) of Act 29/60 and pleaded with the court to pardon him because he a key servant and only male of his parents.
Just after the plea, the prosecutor, Inspector Samuel Owusu notified that court with documents as evidences that Philip Ansah has been convicted twice on similar cases by the Asamankese Magistrate Court in 2017 and 2020, so the Judge said there is no mercy for an Ex-Convict base on the law and sentenced him to 14 years.
Inspector Samuel Owusu said Complainant is Pobi Martha, a student of Kwaobaah -Nyanoa Senior High School and stays in Nyanoa town.
Philip Ansah,the accused Person and his accomplice, Emmanuel Eshun is labourer and both are residents of Nyanoa.
He said On 21/06/23 at about 1:30am, complainant woke from her sleep and detected theft of her Iphone 7
plus mobile valued Gh¢900.00 from the room and reported to the Police.
Investigations led to the arrest of them and the phone was retrieved from them and after investigation, both were charged with the respective offences and put before Court.
