Media General’s presidential correspondent Nana Adua has confirmed that the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has named Energy Minister and lawmaker for Manhyia South Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh as his running mate for the 2024 general elections.
“Dr. Mahammud Bawumia last night met President Akufo Addo to formally inform him about his choice for running mate,” Nana Adua reported.
“Dr Bawumua will meet the council of elders to formally inform them about his choice by the close of the week Announcement is likely to be made close of the week or early next month.”
This news come a few days after a survey by the National Investigation Bureau indicated that Dr Opoku Prempeh was te preferred running mate to Dr Bawumia.
The survey engaged 5,116 NPP delegates nationwide, including national, regional, constituency, and polling station executives.
According to the study, Dr Opoku Prempeh secured 76.2% of the responses from executives polled.
