Four Children Raise Funds To Support Orphanage Home At Kona In Ashanti Region
In what is seen as the spirit of philanthropism, four children aged between twelve and seven years of the
Opoku Sekyere Family Charity, a USA-based Charity Organisation
have mobilized eight thousand dollars through fundraising to support the Patrick Duah Foundation, a Ghanaian-based charity home at Kona in the Ashanti Region to help ease the congestion at the home.
According to the children, Meredith Opoku-Sekyere (12-year-old) Chris (14 years old), Gabe (9 years old), and Janelle (7 years old) they were touched by a call by the founder of the home, Rev. Patrick Kwaku Duah for Public support to enable him to expand the accommodation facilities at the home, hence their desire to raise the funds to support.
The Partick Duah Foundation is putting up a 14-bedroom story complex with two caretaker offices expected to cost thirty thousand dollars to provide decent accommodation for the orphans and the underprivileged at the home.
At a ceremony at the project site at Kona, the four children from the OPoku Sekyere- Charity Organisation donated an initial amount of eight thousand dollars(8,000 dollars) to ensure the speedy commencement of the project.
A member of the Opoku Sekyere family, Ms. Meredith Opoku-Sekyere, who donated on behalf of her siblings, reiterated that they were deeply touched by the appeal made by Rev. Patrick Duah so they decided to solicit funds from family and friends in the USA to come and support.
The founder of the Patrick Duah Foundation, Rev. Patrick Kwaku Duah, thanked the family for the kind gesture and pledged to see to the completion of the project soon.
