The Journey To December 7th 2024 General Elections With The Bigbrain Grandma’s Grave
We can’t always as privileged part communicators comfortably choose to intuitively throw other party people under the bus just because we presuppose that in one or another their recent decision(s) could irredeemably cost us in this election. Sometimes such people just only want to be heard, respected or recognized. I am ill informed about circumstances leading to his decision. Yes. NPP won Suhum 2020 Parliamentary election with about 14,857 votes, but, this is a sitting MP that we are talking about here. Don’t ever imagine that it’s so easy and fanciful, to wake up one morning and announce to contest the very party which made you MP?
Almost same situation happened in Sefwi Akontombra NDC in 2016, which helped Hon. Alex Tetteh to win that seat for NPP for the first time in party’s history with just 296 votes, whilst the disgruntled NDC sitting MP then was able to gain about 4,108 votes (NDC needed just 297 votes out of this figure to maintain the seat); and since Alex Tetteh won that seat, he took a delightful advantage of that slim lifeline, and I don’t think the NDC is going to reclaim this Akontombra seat anytime soon. Just as usual, it was an NDC stronghold, so they thought they scan still sail through, but ended up with such a big surprise.
For us NPP, happenings in 2020 Parliamentary primaries/election is so fresh in minds. When people said a whole lot about Hon. Andrew Amoakoh Assiamah, who became our magic bullet thereafter. NPP won Fomena Parliamentary seat in 2016 with some 72.7%; a comfortable win of course, so we arrogantly assumed the sitting MP, as an independent candidate wouldn’t affect us in anyway, but the rest, as they say, is a fresh memory in our thoughts
Like it or not, people have bizarre/bitter experiences to share on these obviously invisible power brokering hidden but vaporous underhand dealings, a fact that we can’t play the ostrich of being ignorant of
If it happened in Fomena, Ashanti region, an NPP votes basket, then Suhum couldn’t be anything different either.
This is a sitting MP we’re talking about here, believe it or not, he has influence on a portion of the voter population. Using the outcome of Parliamentary primaries to determine likability of an MP by his constituents is nothing but hogwash. This behaviour of pronto attacks on others is ungrounded, the fact that we have laptops, phones, vocabularies and brains to communicate in whichever form, doesn’t mean we can deliberately set people up on social media to be insulted. I don’t know Hon. Asante from anywhere, I didn’t even know who Suhum MP is, until this issue came up. But how do our Shakespeares feel when some of such situations are later settled peacefully? Some people are naturally beyond shame. What did we not say about Kennedy Agyepong and Kwabena Agyepong during the Flagbearership campaign, how do we see both men now; aren’t we ashamed at a point?
We must, and reasonably so, respect the party hierarchy, give them time to initiate reconciliation after the intent is now made public, if at the end of all efforts and nothing good comes out of it, then maybe you can continue with that ‘John The Baptist job’. Even that, it still doesn’t make sense to me. The best way to win back an angry soul can never be that of prejudice or retribution. I thought we also learnt some few lessons from Akwatia in 2020. If you think someone who won primaries, proceeded to win an election to represent NPP doesn’t like the party, but you do?? Such a pity.
Just pray you wouldn’t get Andrew Amoakoh Assiamah, who wouldn’t be Andrew Amoakoh Assiamah; (try and decode it).
Give your party leadership, Dr Bawumia’s campaign handlers some respect and dignity to do their job, your encyclopedic exploits wouldn’t do anything better either. Let’s grow up, and stop pretending to be who we are not. Because we all have cobwebs in our wardrobes. Maybe your private actions and/or inactions have caused the party more than what you think this MP wants to do, rather, your victims haven’t been that bold to expose you.
If indeed, you are too sure that the current NPP PC is overly loved by the constituents, and despise their MP, then what’s your headache here; since he doesn’t matter in his constituency for this election? If Protozoa is truly and genuinely loved and like by Suhum constituents, Kwadwo Asante’s independent candidacy wouldn’t change anything, or, would it? If yes, then you aren’t being realistic.
These “quickie” adrenaline driven hypocrisy makes me sick.
I’m yet to see and read any official position from the party leadership, detailing whatever efforts made on this issue, premised upon which that decision is arrived at. For incumbent parties always being haunted by apathy in third term bid elections in our democracy, what NPP needs now shouldn’t be another cracks. If such impulsive behaviour of condemnation on others is the definition for party loyalty, then I forever remain disloyal. Politics is a game of numbers, spiced up with compromises, sacrifices and a common goal agenda. Each ballot is equally important.
People in our Education and Health services are now openly selling recruitment opportunities to unposted teachers and nurses at fees of around 15,000 and 20,000 (150,000,000 old cedis), from a jobless professional; victims include NPP youth who are still defending the party. Why should I, after passing all required examination and training, plus national service, still have to pay such amounts before being posted.
People in these sectors of the government, are the real enemies of ‘your’ party/government, some of whom might be your friend, but you don’t care about that, because they are your friends. Funny! Nauseating.
I don’t blame some of you. Mo pre koraa dodo, y’abrɛ mo.
We live to learn, my thoughts though.
