Presbyterian Church Of Ghana, Asante Presbytery Holds Faith Peace Symposium Ahead Of 2024 Elections
The Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Asante Presbytery, has held a Peace Faith Symposium ahead of December 7th, 2024, presidential and parliamentary elections.
At the PCG Peyer Memorial Congregation, Bantama in the Ashanti Region, Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni Frimpong speaking under the theme: “Building Strategic Partnerships to promote Peaceful and Inclusive Credible Elections-The Role of the Church,” charged eligible voters especially the political actors to ensure this year’s elections are conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner in devoid of ceremonies and violence before, during and after the polls.
He advised the Ghanaian voter to expedite with a high level of understanding and see the need to approach the elections with peace and descending mind to elect their preferred candidate without any form of intimidation and attacks.
Rev. Dr. Frimpong Opuni urged the clergy, the Muslim community, and Chiefs to join hands with the Presbyterian Church of Ghana to facilitate peaceful polls.
Speaking during the event, the chairperson of Asante Presbytery, Rev. Samuel Ahima-Yeboah urged the media to be measured in their reportage during the elections, reminding them that, media houses are not mandated to declare elections rather than the Electoral Commission that is mandated by law to announce and declare elections.
However, he urged the media to use the era of global technology to inform and report accuracy during the elections…so as together as a nation to promote incidence-free.
Addressing the media after the programme, Lawyer Dickson Tweneboah Kodua said, when there is no peace, there won’t be any business transactions and what is paramount in human life is peace and stability. However, everyone should play an integral role in the 2024 elections for us as a nation to continue maintaining the peaceful atmosphere we enjoy.
“Peace is priceless, and it’s not talent or God’s gift”. Thus what each and everyone needs to do is to propagate for peace in the upcoming elections.
