“Enough Is Enough” Demo Rocks Ashanti Region, As Thousands Turnout
The Ashanti regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has invaded the principal streets of the region to register their displeasure about the conduct of the Electoral Commissioner, Jane Mensah over her denial of conducting a forensic audit on the voter register.
The party’s national chairman Johnson Aseidu Nketia tasked all the sixteen regions to embark on the same demonstration with a centralised petition message. Through this core party mandate, the Ashanti Region led by its able chairman, Augustus Andrews a k.a Nana Kwasi, the regional Organizer, Isham Alhassan and the rank and file members have organised a mammoth crowd to speak to Ghanaians about the behaviour of the EC since its the only language she (EC) understand.
The demonstrators in their quest to present their petition to the regional electoral office, met with minor violence after the police tried to prevent them from entering the premises of the EC.
The regional chairman, Nana Kwasi addressing the demonstrators stated categorically that, two of his members had been arrested hence, he demanded their release if not, they would not leave the EC premises.
However, the matcommedia can reliably inform its readers that, at the time of going to press, the regional chairman confirmed to us that, the two persons that were arrested had been released and their petition had also been accepted by the EC.
“The NDC is not asking for much, what the party is demanding is for EC to audit the voter register”…because the outcome of the 2024 election will rest solely on the transparency and fairness of the voter register.
