GNASSM Concluded A Successful Dialogue With Gov’t On The Fight Against Galamsey On River Bodies
Leadership of the Ghana National Association of Small Scale Miners (GNASSM) has engaged government on the need to fight illegal mining activities on river bodies in the country.
A press release signed by the leadership of the association starting their successful engagement with the government revealed that their prime objective is to ensure galamsey activities on river bodies are flash out with the support of trained water wardens, the Navy and GNASSM task force in their quest to sanitize our water bodies.

Accra, Ghana: Government Partners with Ghana National Association of Small Scale Miners to Protect River Bodies and Forest Reserves.
The Ghana National Association of Small-Scale Miners (GNASSM) is pleased to announce a fruitful discussion with the government to combat illegal mining.
This collaboration marks a significant milestone in our efforts to safeguard Ghana’s natural resources.
*Key Outcomes of the Partnership*
The government will deploy trained water wardens and the Navy to join forces with GNASSM’s task force, patrolling water bodies and protecting forest reserves, declared red zones.
GNASSM and the government will work together to ensure the sustainable management of these critical ecosystems.
Our recent press conference in Kumasi on October 4, 2024, emphasized the need for a collaborative approach to address illegal mining.
We appreciate the government’s prompt response to our call for partnership.
We extend our gratitude to all our stakeholders for their unwavering support.
We now invite Organised Labour, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Associations, and Institutions and those who are calling for a total ban on lawful small-scale mining to join forces with us in dealing with the menace.
On October 11, 2024, GNASSM will host a public forum in Osino, Eastern Region, to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our water bodies and forest Reserves. We invite all committed stakeholders to participate.
