As the 2024 elections loom, transparency and fairness have become a focal point for many political stakeholders.
However, the role of the Electoral Commission (EC) in upholding the sanctity of the electoral process is crucial, as it ensures that every vote counts and every voice is heard.
However, concerns over electoral misconduct and irregularities have raised key concerns by the opposition party NDC of how Jane Mensah is bernt on tainting the beauty and smooth process of the elections after several calls and engagement ensued by the leadership of the NDC in their quest to draw the attention of the EC to some irregularities that have characterized with the voter register, but the EC seems not to pay attention to those concerns.
However, the Ashanti Regional chairman for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Andrews Augustus popularly called Nana Kwasi in public begged His Royal Highness, Otumfou Osei Tutu II to intervene in the EC’s misconduct and demeanour in producing a transparent voter register for the upcoming general elections.
Nana Kwasi knelt before a Mammoth crowd in the Ejisu Constituency as a sign of humility to appeal to the OverLord of Asanteman to as a matter of national interest advise the EC to conduct itself in a manner that upholds transparency, fairness, accountability and the principles of democracy in the electoral process ahead of the 2024 polls.
“Your Royal Highness, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, your voice concerning electoral misconduct carries significant weight, however, I’m on my knees, intervened in the EC’s misconduct towards producing a transparent register.”…the NDC has complained about the porous nature of the register yet, the EC says they are going to print ballot papers. The NDC is not preaching chaos, but when chaos reared its ugly head, we need not blame ourselves.
