PRESS CONFERENCE ORGANISED BY DEFECTED MEMBERS OF THE MOVEMENT FOR CHANGE, ON WEDNESDAY, 16TH OCTOBER, 2024.
Good morning, Ladies and Gentlemen of the media. First of all, we are overwhelmed by your swift response to our call, despite the very short notice.
The 2024 elections is about 54 days away, and every political party is actively deploying its arsenal, just to retain, return to power, or win this election for the very first time.
It is of this very reason that, we, the former members of Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change (Afrafranto), have called you this morning, to speak to you about an impending walk to be organised by Mr Kyerematen and his Movement.
Foremost, we want to state it clearly and now, that, as former members of the Movement, we withdraw our full services and participation of any activity that has connections with the Movement for Change.
It is instructive to note that, all of us here gathered, were once ardent followers of Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, when he was an integral part of the Akufo-Addo and Bawumia government. We wholeheartedly supported his vision, personality, and anything that he stood for, since the days of former President J.A Kufuor.
Never a day did any of us here denied him and his wife of our dedication and commitment.
Even at the time that he denounced his membership from the NPP, to form his political movement, we still supported his quest, until we realised that, we were charting a path that will abruptly end our political careers.
Ladies and Gentlemen, as fully-blooded members of the NPP and, in particular, for Alan Kyerematen, we constantly, and severally, engaged him on the need to rescind his decision and rejoin the NPP, but all to no avail.
It is important to state that, Mr Kyerematen has become who he is now, today, because of the NPP and no one else.
Our dear friends of the media, let us be aware of one thing: that we were the very people who have been doing all the operational works for him. This include, but not limited to, organising all his walks and campaign activities for him in all parts of the country.
So, now that we have returned to the very party that we once loved and belonged to, it is prudent to state unequivocally, that, we wash our hands off anything that has to do with Alan Kyerematen and his Movement.
And that, anyone or people now following him, are hired people sponsored by the opposition National Democratic Congress.
We know what we have seen and heard. That the NDC is hugely influencing the Afrafranto movement, just to, as we say: destroy the NPP votes in the Ashanti Region.
As it stands, we understand the movement will be organising a walk in Kumasi, and we won’t be surprised if it is the NDC, which is behind all that.
To conclude, Ladies and Gentlemen, we want to mention here that, we have no hands in the organisation of the so-called walk, and that even if two people follow the walk, those people would be part of the NDC and other political parties who are sponsoring.
To us, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP Presidential Candidate remains the obvious choice to lead the party to break the 8, and we are here to give our full support to him and the NPP.
Thank you for your attention.
God bless us all.
