2024 Election: Pastors In Ashanti Region Pray For Peaceful Polls
Earlier today, a group of Christian leaders, including Apostles, Reverends, Evangelists, and Pastors from various churches in Kumasi, converged at the Kumasi Kejetia Market to preach a powerful message ahead of the upcoming presidential election. The religious leaders, drawn from different denominations, addressed the crowd, emphasizing the need for Ghanaians to prioritize competence and development over religious identity when voting for a leader.
In their sermon, they quoted 1 Samuel 16:7, where the Bible says, “The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” The preachers urged the public not to be swayed by the religious affiliation of the candidates but to focus on the heart, character, and competence of those aspiring to lead the nation.
The ministers also referenced Proverbs 29:2, which states, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” They stressed that righteousness in leadership is not based on religion, but on just governance, integrity, and the ability to bring development to the lives of the people.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Apostle Koby Agyemang reiterated, “We are not here to promote any political party. We are here to remind Ghanaians that what truly matters is the competence of the leader, not their religion. A leader who can bring progress, peace, and prosperity should be our priority.”
The gathering was well received by market traders and shoppers, many of whom praised the message of unity and development over division. As the election draws nearer, these religious leaders are expected to continue spreading this message across the region.
