Farmers Day: Oforikrom NPP PC Donates Ghs 5,000, 30 Bags Of Fertilizer To Municipal Best Farmer
The Parliamentary Candidate for the Oforikrom Constituency of the Ashanti Region on the ticket of the ruling party, NPP, Hon. Michael Aidoo has donated Ghs 5,000 cash price and 30 bags of fertiliser to the Municipal Best Farmer of the year 2024, Mr. Godwin Beduro.
Mr. Godwin Beduro was adjudged the overall winner took home tricycle, (aboboya), knapsack sprayer, fertilizers and other items.
Speaking to the media after the 40th Farmers’Day celebration at Aprade in the Oforikrom Municipality, Hon. Aidoo revealed that the initiative forms part of his quest to empower and motivate young farmers in the municipality.
Mr. Aidoo however urged the youth not to allow negative mindset scares them from participating in farming since its a lucrative veture which could impact their lives.
Tauching on politics, Mr. Aidoo tasked his constituents especially the youth to actively participate in the December 7th Presidential and Parliamentary elections and vote for him and the NPP party.
He was quick to reiterate that, elections is about sharing of ideas and policies not war, thus, its prudent for as together as a nation preach nothing but peace and unity within the constituency before, during and after the election.
The Municipal Chief Executive Officer, Hon. Abraham Antwi who represent the president, outlined the Municipal contribution towards empowering farmers averred that, 1000 farmers were registered, 26,000 cocoa seedlings have been distributed to farmers among other close engagement initiatives with farmers aiming at empowering them.
According to him, Green Ghana has helped train farmers as part of government efforts support farmers. He noted that, the Oforikrom Municipal has secured financial support for five year to discover new seedlings and Crop Research Institute is conducting a research to discover seedlings for Oforikrom farmers.
