Former DCE Wins Oforikrom Municipal Livestock Best Farmer
The former Chief Executive Officèr for the Amansie West District, Hon. Nii Larteh Olenu has won the Oforikrom Mucipal Livestock Best Farmer of the Year.
He took home wheelbarrow, knapsack sprayer, fertilizers and other farming inputs.
Speaking to the media after receiving the award, lauds the Oforikrom Municipal and the organisers for diligent scrutiny in electing him as the best Livestock winner.
The former DCE used the event to urge Ghanaians especially the youth not to consider farming as a dropped-out profession but as a sector that has been many livelihoods source of survival and shall embraced by everyone.
“Farming is not for the old or the uneducated”. I have a degree in agriculture and I am a farmer and I started my livestock farming with 8 birds and currently I can boost of over 5,000 birds.
Apart from concentrating on the livestock business, I have also used the droppings of the birds to generate gas that is supplying the family and a liquid fertilizer also generating from the birds droppings which I supply to vegetable farmers.
Mr Olenu averred further that, government has introduced so many agricultural policies that include the Planting for Food and Jobs, and the supply of fertilisers and other farm inputs to farmers are plans government intends helping farmers of which he encouraged the youth to take part in the farming business.
