Videos: Damak-IDP Holds Second Sanitation Excellence Awards-As Director Calls On Gov’t To Adopt Innovative Measures Toward Clean Env’t
The Director of Damak Sanitation Health Watch-Ghana, Daniel Mbabugri Akgri, has called on the government to as a matter of national interest intensifies innovative measures that would not only ensure a clean environment but rather find lasting solutions to the fight against Sanitation and hygiene in the country.
Speaking during the second edition of the organisation’s Sanitation Excellence Awards, emphasized that, sanitation has not been significantly improving even though efforts were made by the government and other organisations, the sector has witnessed insignificant change speaks volumes that more needs to be done in the area of Sanitation and Hygiene.
He noted that many organisations including the government, have used local and international methodologies in their quest to find resolving solutions to the situation but failed.

In regards to all these failed approaches, Damak Sanitation Health Watch Ghana in collaboration with the International Direct Project (IDP) from Switzerland adopted a new innovative technology using Digital Address system codes to determine the contributions/performance of the communities/Electoral Areas.
Additionally, our media reporters also help in monitoring the performance of the selected areas in the blind eye of Assembly Members and other selected institutions.
Mr. Daniel Mbabugri explained further that, the friendly nature of the system helps determine the percentage score mark of every Electoral Area from 1-100 (%). This, he said, will ensure transparency and guinueity in selecting winners not based on merit, but on their performance and contributions.
In 2023, 5 assembly members and 5 other organisations were given awards to that effect. However, the number has been increased from 10 to 16 who received awards following their contributions toward promoting a clean and safe environment in the Ashanti Region.
Addressing awardees, the Director of International Direct Project (IDP), Pierre P. Petitjean said, Sanitation is key in human life and when the earth is polluted as a result of environmental pollution, it may have to dare consequences on the lives of our children and the next generation to come when immediate measures failed to facilitated to mitigate the sanitation challenge.
