Tension has reared its ugly head again at Nkwanta in the Oti Region between the Chala, Akyode in renewed clashes.
Somewhere last year, the abovementioned tribes ensued in a chieftaincy clash that had led to the death of some residents.
Even though calm later was restored but, the outcome seems not to be definitely resolved. Last week Saturday, the old fued reoccured, which led to the death of some persons, while others sustained various degrees of injuries following the renewed clash by the affected tribes.
The unending feud seems not to end very soon due to some individuals who are not natives of Nkwanta South and some alleged security heads who are promoting the violence for personal sentiments and political bigotry.
In the recent occurrence, one Alidu Musah aka Suraj in an audio voice violentlly threatening with all manner of incantations to beheaded some identified leaders in the area of which he mentioned Nana Obombo Lepuwura Sewura II, the paramount chief of Akyode Traditional Area as his main target.

The unguided violence comments spewed by Suraj raise questions of who is behind his actions. “For an ordinary civilian to make such treacherous comments and still walking freely in the area calls for serious security threats.
According to reports filed from the Nkwanta South, the security aparatus, especially the Crime Officer, is playing the ostrich tactis failed to apprehend Suraj rather, going after innocent residents.
A resident told matcommedia.com content writer, Ben-oni Barnes in a telephone interview that, members of Akyode’s who were arrested have been detained while the Chala’s who are causing the mayhem were released after the arrest signifies the imbalance justice in the matter.

According to the Akyode’s, they have remained calm, waiting for the security aparatus and the IGP, Dr. Akufo Dampare to do the needful by tracking down the culprits, especially the Suraj guy who are threatening to eliminate some key members in the camp of the Akyode’s. “We stand for peace, andbwe cannot continue to suffer the consequences by losing their members…hence appealing to those matters in finding lasting resolution to help bring finality to long standing violence to avert further escalation.
